3:20 am - for you
|
To me, this song represents the willingness to grow up and accept responsibility, because those are two of the things needed to be able to marry someone. Love is a chief ingredient, but to be able to follow through on the promises made in wedding vows, one needs to be able to shed their childish desires (to a certain extent) and shoulder the burden that you are no longer the only one that depends on you. And that is manyfold over once children enter the picture.
In short, to me this song represents a sort of wedding vow, and a promise (especially coupled with another song) that he'll marry this girl, because they're fated to be together. She shouldn't worry about the troubles she's having now because he's going to take care of her soon. That's what this song means to me. And about how I feel about someone.
What does it mean to you? (if you don't know it, you should get it. It's on Social Distortion's album, Sex, Love & Rock 'n' Roll
Social Distortion - Angels' Wings (acoustic version)
You say you're down on your luck Hey baby it's a long long way up Hold back now, hold back your fears You say you're really down and out And you feel like there's no way out now Let go now, let go your tears some more
How many times have you asked yourself Is this the hand of fate now that I've been dealt You're so disillusioned, this can't be real And you can't stand now the way you feel I don't care about what they say I won't live or die that way Tired of figurin' out things on my own Angel's wings won't you carry me home?
And when you're down on your luck Hey baby it's a long long way up Hold back now, hold back your fears And when you're really down and out And you feel like there's now way out now Let go now, let go your tears some more
I triumphed in the face of adversity And I became the man I never thought I'd be And now my biggest challenge: a thing called love I guess I'm not as tough as I thought I was I don't care about what they say I'm gonna marry you someday Go ahead and wake up, it's a brand new day Angel's wings gonna carry you away Angel's wings gonna carry me away Angel's wings gonna carry us
And when you're down on your luck Hey baby it's a long long way up Hold back now, hold back your fears And when you're really down and out And you feel like there's now way out now Let go now, let go your tears some more Angel's wings gonna carry you away Angel's wings gonna carry me away Angel's wings gonna carry us away

9:54 pm - NOTICE TO PEOPLE WHO COME TO PARTIES AT THE BATCAVE
|
OK, the boys and I have decided to take what we thought was a general understanding, and make it an official rule. Guys, we shouldn't have to say this, but from now on, if you make a mess at our house, please be so kind as to clean it up.
This doesn't necessarily apply to dishes you dirty if you are cooking for us or for the whole group. This does apply if you cook for yourself, if you vomit somewhere, spill a drink, etc. Some of you guys are already very good about this. Some of you are not.
I know that our house is already dirty, but you don't need to make it worse. It's a huge project every time we do clean our house, and we dirty it back up fast enough by ourselves. So please, do us this favor. I know that I have always tried to help clean up whatever mess I make at other people's houses, we'd all appreciate it if you did the same for us.
Thank you.
[edit]Almost forgot: if this doesn't start to happen by the next party, we will stop having parties. Especially if I ever step in someone else's vomit again. Sorry, but them's the breaks.[/edit]

5:43 pm - SUSHI & SAKE PARTY!!
|
Here's the deal guys. Every month, we are going to host a dinner party at our house. February's dinner party was Gumbo Night with Chef Lew. March is almost here, and March is my month. I will be inviting a professional sushi chef to come prepare the sashimi for the party. Since I know some of you are vegetarian (and I'm sure a lot of you are scared to try sushi, as I was) I will be preparing several alternate dishes that you can have.
Just as last month, you need to RSVP so that we can know how much to prepare. Since we will have multiple dishes this month, please let us know in which dishes you will be interested. Until the menu is finalized, there is obviously no need to RSVP. I should have the menu planned by this weekend. In the meantime, please make sure that you will have the night of the party free. I will be passing out invitations by hand, phone, aim and email this weekend. Here's the info that will be on them:
SUSHI & SAKE PARTY DATE: SATURDAY, MARCH 12, 2005 LOCATION: 2308 Rohs Street, Apt 2 TIME: after 8:00 PM
Food and sake will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own beer or liquor.*
Dress or dress-casual attire is preferred, but by no means required.
Please RSVP with number of people you will be bringing and the preference of menu item:
[menu items will be listed here]
Thank you.
By the way, several people have asked me to encourage everyone to bring as many of their single friends as they can! ("several people" includes, but is not limited to: other chefs, some possible guests, and the sushi guest-chef)
* If you want to remain consistent with the theme of the meal, you are encouraged to purchase Japanese beer, wine or liqour. Most liquor stores sell Sake and Plum Wine, but you will have to go to a specialty store for the beer (and no, CAM does not sell alcohol)
